LESSON FORTY EIGHT

There is nothing to fear.
How beautiful these words; how melodic.
Is there such a word Brother? Check it out! I used it deliberately for the easing of fear is the sweetest melody; the most comforting. And in this tortured, pain-wracked dream, You know that fear is extreme. My words aim to heal. What I am saying – in Course and Guidance – is but a Love song sung to every One. How I Love You All.
1 The idea for today simply states a fact. God’s Reality is always benign. It is not a fact to those who believe in illusions, but illusions are not facts. Illusions are lies promulgated by mendacious ego. I said in Bible times that it was just a liar and the father of all lies.1 In truth there is nothing to fear. It is very easy to recognize this. But it is very difficult to recognize for those who want illusions to be true. For those who wish to continue dreaming.
Be not of them for they all come to pain and dying so they can stay in the dream. You now know better. My words are given to encourage You to eschew dying and embrace Living!
2 Today’s practice periods will be very short, very simple, and very frequent. Merely repeat the idea as often as possible. You can use it with your eyes open at any time and in any situation. It is strongly recommended, however, that you take a minute or so whenever possible to close your eyes and repeat the idea slowly to yourself several times. It is particularly important that you use the idea immediately should anything disturb your peace of mind.
What is the purpose of this Lesson but the end of fear, for fear belongs exclusively to dreaming. End the fear and You will end the dreaming.
3 The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. Quite typical ego behavior. The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, not necessarily in a place which you recognize as yet, you have remembered God and let His strength take the place of yours. The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear. What am I advocating here but to let God take over!

1 John 8:44 – Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
